Gender Medicine focuses on the impact of sex and gender on normal human physiology, and the pathophysiology and clinical features of disease. Specifically, Gender Medicine seeks to publish reports of original scientific investigations that use biological sex and/or gender as a significant variable in the experimental protocol. These include research that:- Reports significant differences in the normal function of males and females
- Identifies differences in the pathophysiology of disease as a function of biological sex/gender
- Evaluates the efficacy of therapeutic interventions as a function of sex/gender
- Develops protocols that translate the results of gender-specific investigations into clinical practice
The journal also encourages submission of brief reports, commentaries, and letters to the editor that address timely or provocative issues in gender-specific medicine, including cardiology, endocrinology, oncology, dermatology, public and health policy, infectious disease, geriatrics and aging, gastroenterology, and neurology.
